Yes, ridealong™ uses VoIP communication not only between 2 devices, but much more.
Theoretically the range between 2 devices can reach up to 200 metres depending on the devices, the surrounding environment and if there is any obstruction in the way. We have run tests with a Nexus 7 and a Nexus 5 and we were able to maintain voice communication up to 90 metres with clean line of site within urban environment.
Yes. Each connected device extends the network thus increasing the range between non neighbour nodes.
Mobile data connection can be used to extend the range almost infinitely as long there is mobile data available.
